Below are the most frequently asked questions relating to Jim White Fitness programs, weight loss, services, health, fees and policies:

Different Fitness Programs

Q. When I start your training program will you be able to test my body fat?
A. Yes. We will perform a Fitness Test on any new clients who purchase one of our training packages free of charge. This will not only help determine your current fitness level, but it will provide us with the information needed to develop a customized program that will maximize your results.

Q. I noticed that you offer a half-hour Workout Express program. Since I have a busy lifestyle, this fits into my schedule perfectly. Will I still see benefits by working out for just 30 minutes?
A. Yes. But be ready to exercise! We will maximize the time by manipulating the intensity of the workout. Our half-hour workout will allow you to get in and out of the gym while still allowing time to complete your daily tasks.

Q. Do I need to be in a group to participate in your Beachfront Boot Camp program?
A. No. Our Beachfront Boot Camp program is designed for individuals or groups. The sessions are held at 17th Street at the Virginia Beach oceanfront—rain or shine.

Q. How many days per week do you recommend I workout with you to see any results?
A. We recommend starting out with at least 2 times per week. Results also depend on exercise you will perform on your own time. We have clients that train with us 5 times per week. We also have clients that train with us once a week while they workout on their own the rest of the week.

weight loss

Q. I want to lose weight and tone up by an important event in 2 months. How much weight can you help me lose in this amount of time?
A. We would recommend that you select the Body Transformation Program since we only have 2 months to work with. This program is designed to provide the results you want in half the time. The focus will be more on your body measurements rather than your weight loss. However, you will lose weight! In fact, we guarantee an eight pound weight loss by the end of the program or your money back! Call today for more details.

Group Training

Q. I own my own company and I am interested in having you train my staff. What service will you provide them?
A. We have many different services that can be provided to a group (maximum of ten). These include: one-hour One-on-One; one-hour Group Training; or the half-hour Workout Express program. In addition to fitness services, we can also conduct health seminars for your staff. Call today for pricing.

Home Training vs. Gym

Q. Can I really see results by training with you in my home as opposed to a gym?
A. Most definitely. Your success is our priority. We will use our expertise to design a program that is enjoyable, challenging, and successful. Refer to our success stories to see what others have to say about our Homebodies program.

Q. Can I still train at my home if I have no exercise equipment?
A. Yes. Our motto is "Why go to the gym when 'THE JIM' can come to you." Our equipment list includes travel benches, dumbbells, resistance bands, stability balls, medicine balls, exercise mats, body bars, kick boxing tools, jump ropes, ankle weights, exercise leg bands, mini steppers...all the essentials for a great workout. Call today for a free consultation.

Q. Can you help me turn a portion of my basement into a fitness room?
A. We have designed many home gyms and guarantee you will be satisfied with our work. We will not only recommend what type of equipment to buy, but will design, purchase and set up the home gym. In addition, we will demonstrate how to use the equipment properly so you can maximize its use. Our service will help you save time, money and space.

Nutrition

Q. I am very interested in your Nutrition Makeover Program! Can you go into more detail about what it entails?
A. As a dietitian, Jim White feels that the public has many misconceptions about nutrition and weight loss. With all of the new diets (Atkins, South Beach, The Zone, Sugar Busters, etc.) presented by the media, no wonder people are confused. Our Nutrition Makeover Program will give you the cutting edge to today's current nutrition trends.

The first session of the program includes a nutritional assessment and consultation. We will investigate your past eating habits, examine your current nutritional needs and formulate your future eating plan. The second session includes a healthy cooking demonstration. We will show you ways to cook healthy and convenient meals in minutes. Also in this session, we will raid your cupboards in the attempt to make them more nutritious. (Don't worry, we won't get rid of everything.) To give your kitchen a true nutritional makeover, in the third session we will go to your nearest grocery store and restock your cupboards with the foods that will benefit you and your diet.

health

Q. I am a 50-year-old male with hypertension and Type II diabetes. Do I have to acquire a physicians release before we begin training?
A. Since you have more than 2 positive risk factors, we would need you to provide us a physician's release letter. We've posted downloadable health forms, par-q forms, nutritional assessment forms and release forms for any new clients to fill out before training begins. This will help speed up the screening process.

fees

Q. Why are your fees not listed on the web site?
A. Most of our programs are unique and do vary in price. For instance, our home training rate is based on a fixed rate plus travel time. Prices may vary depending on your location. Just like we tailor our fitness programs to fit your individual needs, our prices are no exception. We work with all budgets to accommodate anybody who wants to get fit.

Q. What if a friend, family member or neighbor wants to train with me. Do you offer discounts?
A. Yes! We encourage group training! Group training is a fun way to get in shape and can be very motivating for everyone. For every additional person that joins the group, the price is discounted (limit 4 to a group).

Q. What do you charge for your in-home personal training service?
A. Training fees vary from home to home. We take into consideration the distance it takes to travel from our location to your location. Call today for pricing.

Q. Do you offer any discounts for your services?
A. Yes. We have seasonal discounts.  Keep an eye on our “Just In” section of our home page to discover the latest gym and training specials!

Policies

Q. How far will you travel to train one of your customers?
A. We will travel anywhere to train or set up your fitness program (in-state or out). Training fees will include travel time.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. We must receive a 24-hour notice for any cancelled session or the session will be forfeited. If you have an emergency situation, then sessions may be moved to a more convenient time. All sessions must be made up within one month's time.

Q. Do I need to make a long-term commitment when I begin training?
A. We know life can be very unpredictable. If you decide to use our services, you will not have to sign any long-term training agreements. However, we do sell monthly fitness packages and the longer the commitment, the more economical they are.

Q. There are many trainers to choose from...what makes you stand out from the rest?
A. There are many good personal trainers working in the fitness industry. Refer to the About JWFS page to see what makes us different.

Q. If I participate in your monthly training packages, when do I have to pay my bill?
A. We allow 10 days from the 1st of the month to pay your monthly bill. You will be invoiced on the 1st of every month. If payment is not made by the 10th you will incur a $25 surcharge.

Q. If I am training in a group and I have to miss a session, can I make it up on my own?
A. No. If you are in group training and have to miss a session for whatever reason, the session will be forfeited. The only exception is if the whole group can make up the session on a later day.

gym membership

Q. I see you have 6 month and year memberships. Is it possible to pay month-to-month?
A. Yes. We accept month-to-month payments. We take a monthly draft out of any major credit card. A 6-month or year commitment is still required.

Q. How does the 24-hour access work?
A. When you sign up for a membership you will be given a swipe card. With this swipe card you will have access to the gym and all of its amenities 24/7.

Q. Is the gym safe if I come late at night?
A. Yes. We have blacked out our windows so no one can see inside. The doors lock automatically as soon as you shut them. Plus, we have security cameras to record all actions. Members should feel safe at all times.

Q. I stopped by your gym yesterday and the doors were locked. Does this mean you are closed at certain times of the day?
A. Yes and no. Our trainers are by appointment only. If we do not have an appointment, chances are the gym will be closed but open to members (with access keys) only. To get more information or to set up a consultation please visit our contact page.

Q. Can I join the gym and not utilize your personal training services?
A. Yes. You can join the gym without using our personal training services. Visa versa — you can hire a personal trainer while not having to join the gym.

Q. Can I get out of my membership contract if I have to move, or if I encounter an emergency situation?
A. Yes. With a 30-day written notice you can cancel your membership if an unfortunate situation arises.
